Locations

Our store has been located in some of the most beautiful

historical locations in Detroit.  Each one a different chapter!

We are currently looking for our next location.

Until then, you can find us in-person at events or purchase from a curated selection of items available at The Detroit History Club.

You can also shop with us online through our full catalog!

The Fisher Building
2023 & 2025

Most recently, we were located in

The Fisher Building known as "Detroit's Largest Art Object."  We have located our store in the building twice starting with a pop-up window across from the box office and moving to a storefront next to the Fisher Theatre in 2023.

We continue to partner with Broadway in Detroit for author events and operate a Silent Book Club speakeasy in the downstairs lounge of the theatre. The Fisher Building was also the location of our poetry wall which started at TEDxDetroit.

The Park Shelton
Pocket Bookstore 2024

In 2024, we were proud to call the Park Shelton home. Pocket bookstores are smaller than traditional stores and also called micro bookshops. Our bookstore was only 360 square feet! Opened in 1926, this iconic building has long been a place where art, culture, and community intersect. It is probably best known as the place where Frida Kahlo lived while Diego Rivera painted the Detroit Industry Murals at the Detroit Institute of Arts across the street.

Downtown Detroit Markets
Cadillac Square
Holiday Season 2022

A winter wonderland in Detroit! In 2022, we were honored to be one of the eighteen businesses chosen for the Downtown Detroit Markets. It is one of Detroit's most beloved seasonal traditions. Each holiday season, a temporary Mainstreet comes to life, inviting visitors to wander, shop small, and celebrate the many communities that make this city so special.  Set in Cadillac Square, the Markets blend holiday magic with the stories, history, and the heart of the city.

Deliveries & Pop-Ups
2020-2021

In 2020, we had plans to open a storefront, but plans changed as the world shut down and schools closed. This resulted in an unexpected pivot to open the bookstore in a non-traditional way.  With a grandmother's vintage bike! We started out doing local deliveries and pop-ups. Our book bike still gets brought out occasionally for spring and summer events!
